Privacy policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

This policy explains what TutorKhoji stores, why it stores it, and who can see it. It is written to be read. If something is unclear, contact us and we will explain it in plain terms.

Privacy by defaultContact details protectedNo sale of personal data

1. Overview

TutorKhoji operates a two-sided marketplace. Parents and students use it to find tutors. Tutors use it to find students. To make that work we store profile information, tuition requirements and, where you unlock a contact, the contact details of the person or family you are contacting.

The guiding principle is simple: contact details are never published. A phone number, email address or full address on TutorKhoji is only ever visible to a user who has spent a credit to unlock that specific contact.

2. What we collect

Account information

  • Full name, email address, mobile number
  • City and locality
  • Account role (parent, student or tutor)
  • Account status, verification status and visibility setting

Tutor profile information

  • Qualification, institution and teaching experience
  • Classes, boards and subjects taught
  • Tuition modes, availability and languages
  • Expected fee range and full address

Tuition requirement information

  • Student name (usually a first name) and age
  • Class, board and subjects
  • City, locality, tuition mode and preferred timing
  • Budget range and any additional notes
  • The parent's name, phone, email and address

Transaction and usage information

  • Credit balance and a ledger of every credit movement
  • Which contacts you saved or unlocked, and when
  • Payment order references, amounts and status
  • Notifications delivered to your account
  • Reports you file and admin actions taken on your account

3. How we use it

  • To show tutors their own profile and to show parents the public parts of a tutor profile.
  • To match parents with tutors, and tutors with student requirements.
  • To reveal contact details to a user who has unlocked that specific contact.
  • To process credit purchases and maintain the credit ledger.
  • To verify tutor profiles and moderate reported listings.
  • To notify you about relevant activity on your own account.
  • To investigate complaints and enforce our terms.

We do not use your contact details for advertising, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

Search pages, cards and page source contain no contact data at all. Contact fields are fetched only for the specific user who unlocked that contact.

5. Who can see your information

  • The public: your display name (first name only for students), city, locality, class, board, subjects, tuition mode, timing, experience and fee range.
  • Tutors who unlock your requirement: your full name, phone, email and address.
  • Parents who unlock your tutor profile: your full name, phone, email and address.
  • Platform admins: full access where needed for verification, moderation and support. Every sensitive admin action is logged.
  • Nobody else. We do not sell, rent or share your data with third parties for marketing.

6. Payments

Credit packs are billed in Indian Rupees. Payment credentials such as card numbers and UPI details are handled entirely by the payment provider and never stored on TutorKhoji servers. We retain only the order reference, amount, status and timestamp so that receipts and refunds can be reconciled.

7. Retention

  • Profile and requirement data is retained while your account is active.
  • Unlock records and the credit ledger are retained for accounting purposes, so your payment history stays verifiable.
  • Closed or expired requirements are hidden from search but retained for record.
  • Suspension or blocking an account stops all visibility immediately; deletion on request is handled as described in section 9.

8. Security

  • Contact details are stored separately from public profile data and released only through an authorised unlock.
  • Tutor profiles are verified before appearing in search.
  • Credit accounting means bulk harvesting contacts has a real cost.
  • All moderation, credit and visibility actions are recorded in an audit trail.
  • Reported profiles can be hidden or suspended immediately.

No system is perfectly secure

If you discover a vulnerability, report it to us rather than exploiting it. We will work with you on disclosure.

9. Your rights

You can, at any time:

  • See and edit your profile, requirement and availability.
  • Hide your profile or requirement from search without deleting it.
  • See your own credit ledger, payment history and unlock history.
  • Request a copy of your data.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
  • Withdraw a report you filed.

To exercise any of these, use the contact page. Deletion requests are completed within 30 days, except where records must be retained for tax or legal reasons.

10. Children

TutorKhoji is intended for adults. A parent or legal guardian creates and manages a student account, and is the party responsible for the information in it. We do knowingly collect data directly from children under 18. If you believe a child's information has been submitted improperly, contact us and we will remove it.

11. Cookies and local storage

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, and local storage to remember interface preferences. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

12. Changes to this policy

When this policy changes materially, we update the date at the top and notify signed-in users before the change takes effect. Continuing to use TutorKhoji after that means the updated policy applies.

13. Contact

Questions about this policy, or a request under section 9, go to the operations team through the contact page.
